This weekend hubby has been off to play rugby, so I asked my little one what she would like to do. She said ‘plant tomatoes mummy’ I was expecting her to say, go to the zoo or farm but no. Plant tomatoes she said. I sat and thought about it, I have no idea what I am supposed to do when it comes to planting veg and fruit.
I thought let’s do it anyway. What can go wrong.
Off we went to the garden centre, we brought some flowers, tomatoes and strawberries.
I don’t expect they will grow ha, but you never know.
Here are the before and after pics.

It’s a working progress. I will get there. This is only part of our garden I have to tackle the rest. It’s a nightmare. I hate cutting grass. She is such an outdoors girl so I expect she will be joining me in the garden more.

Your garden looks beautiful. An old neighbour of mine used to have circular lawns. I have no idea how she did it lol!

We used to have a huge garden and now ours is tiny and my partner misses planting flowers. He has a disability so it’s difficult for him to mow the lawn. A garden like yours would be perfect for us :’). Best of both worlds :). Aha I am sure your little one will give you some motivation and I bet she will love the fresh fruits and veg :). Keep us updated π xx

I think she will. She is such an outdoors girl. I think once it’s done then we can keep up with it. when we moved in it was a mess, so start g from scratch. Hopefully we will be able to enjoy it more when it’s more manageable. :). I find it quite therapeutic gardening. I’m very tired ha but it’s nice. X

I love the pictures!
I think it’s great that you are letting your little girl help with the gardening. To nurture and stimulate passions that children have is just lovely. It helps them.
There was a german guy called Frobel who believed that nurturing plants would teach kids some responsbility because of the growing. He brought it in as an early life lesson for them. I think it’s wonderful hun!
Good job to both of you ^^

Oh, that’s lovely that your daughter wanted to plant something she could eventually eat! I’m sure they’ll be fine, as long as you keep them watered. And if they don’t, never mind, just try something else instead! Good luck – and have fun π x

Good luck with the gardening exploits! Strawberries are probably the hardiest and most resilient things to grow so these are a good choice. Tomatoes are great to do with the kids too! Gardening is meant to be really good for wellbeing so fab that you are doing this with ten little one. #thesatsesh xx
